About Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche:

Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche is a highly respected lama — a teacher in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition — and the lineage holder of his father, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, one of the foremost figures to bring Tibetan Buddhism to the Western world.

Born in Bodhgaya, India — the sacred site where the Buddha attained enlightenment — Rinpoche is the son of Lady Könchok Palden, herself a deeply realized meditation master from Tibet.

From an early age, Rinpoche was immersed in both the profound spiritual training of Tibetan Buddhism and a Western education. He received transmissions and empowerments from his father as well as from some of the great masters of the 20th century who escaped Tibet in 1959, including His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, His Holiness Penor Rinpoche and His Eminence Namkha Drimed Rabjam Rinpoche. These masters entrusted him with carrying forward the unbroken lineage of Buddhist wisdom passed directly from teacher to student for thousands of years.

Bridging two worlds, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche uniquely embodies both Eastern and Western understanding. His teaching style conveys the essence of authentic Buddhist practice in a way that is clear, relatable, and profoundly human.

As the holder of the Sakyong lineage — the teachings of enlightened rulership and bravery rooted in the ancient Shambhala tradition — Rinpoche continues the legacy of King Gesar of Tibet, the legendary enlightened warrior-king from whom his family descends.

Rinpoche currently resides with his wife, Khandro Tseyang, known as the Sakyong Wangmo, an accomplished practitioner in her own right and the daughter of His Eminence Namkha Drimed Rabjam Rinpoche. Together, they are raising three daughters who are being trained as future lineage holders. Their oldest daughter Drukmo Rinpoche has been enthroned as the lineage heir.

We are deeply fortunate to receive teachings from Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche — a teacher whose wisdom bridges the traditions of East and West, devotion and practicality.
